Xbox Series X25
REDMOND, Wash.: Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a special console marking 25 years of the Xbox brand this November. The announcement was made at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 on June 7.
The console features a transparent green design directly inspired by the original Xbox launched back in 2001. Inside, the hardware remains the same as the standard Series X, with 1TB of SSD storage. The limited edition release is a tribute to Xbox’s journey over the past two and a half decades.
The iconic “X” lights up in green when powered on, a nod to the original startup sequence. An Xbox 25th Anniversary logo sits on the front plate alongside other design callbacks. Microsoft teases additional hidden Easter eggs throughout the console design.

A matching Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition launches alongside the console. The controller carries the same translucent OG Green treatment across front and back plates. Colored ABXY buttons and black-and-white bumpers pay homage to the original Duke controller.
The back case and battery door remain fully transparent on the controller. Players can see the classic Xbox logo through the translucent shell during use. The bundle releases in select markets in November as a limited edition collection.

“For the first time, we’re bringing a translucent design to Xbox Series X, drawing inspiration from the original Xbox and OG Green so many players remember,” says Jason Ronald, Xbox VP of Next Generation.
Microsoft has not announced pricing for the console or controller bundle yet. Pre-order details should follow closer to the November launch window. The controller will also sell separately for fans who already own a Series X.

The timing signals that Project Helix, Xbox’s next-generation console, likely arrives in 2027 at earliest. Limited edition hardware drops typically fill late-cycle slots before major platform transitions.
Console collectors and longtime Xbox fans represent the primary target audience here.
