New York: Users across Anthropic’s Claude platform are experiencing elevated errors affecting multiple Claude models, with the company confirming that it has identified the cause and is working on a fix.

The incident, titled “Elevated errors for multiple models,” was first flagged on Anthropic’s official status page at 5:06 a.m. UTC on August 24. The initial update said the company was investigating elevated errors affecting Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5 and Claude Opus 4.8.

Just 21 minutes later, at 5:27 a.m. UTC, Anthropic moved the incident from Investigating to Identified. The company said it had identified the cause of elevated errors affecting requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5 and Claude Opus 5, along with other Claude models, and that engineers were working on a fix.

Anthropic Says Fix Is Underway

In its latest update at 6:42 a.m. UTC, Anthropic said the issue was still being worked on, stating that it was “continuing to work to resolve issues causing elevated requests on multiple models.” The company said it would provide another update as soon as possible.

However, Anthropic has not publicly disclosed the underlying cause of the outage, how many requests have been affected, or when the fix is expected to be fully deployed.

It also remains unclear whether the elevated error rates are affecting all Claude services equally, including claude.ai, the Claude API, Claude Code and Cowork.

Incident Remains Open

As of the latest official update, the incident remains open while Anthropic works toward a resolution. The status page has also recorded 11 other incidents since August 12, highlighting a period of increased service activity for the company.

For now, users encountering failed or elevated-error requests may need to wait for Anthropic’s remediation to take effect. The company has not yet provided a confirmed timeline for full recovery.
